Labor Day Weekend – Sunday, September 5

This is the last week of single services at 10:00AM.  Because of the holiday weekend, there will be no large group children’s activities/supervision for children age 5 and older. Children are welcome to attend the Sunday Morning service with their families.  Nursery care will be available for children age 4 and younger.

INGATHERING ALL CONGREGATION MULTIGENERATIONAL SERVICE

We hope your family will join us for our annual ingathering services on Sunday, September 12 at both 9:30 and 11:30 AM.  Children will be in the service the entire hour.  Be sure to bring water, literal or symbolic, from your summer travels or backyard adventures.

High School (Grades 9-12)  – NOTES

Through various forms of feedback I have learned how very important it is for our senior high students to not only meet on Wednesday evenings, but also to be together in social ways on Sundays.  Our YAC (Youth Adult Committee) will make the final decision on this, but it looks like we’ll be creating a time and space for youth to be together from about 10:45 – 11:20 AM each Sunday, between the services.  More information on this after the YAC meets on September 8.

Wednesday Evening

Youth Group (Grades 9-12)

Students in Youth Group meet each Wednesday evening in the youth room for a youth-led, youth advisor directed evening of fellowship, faith formation and fun.  The members of the Youth Adult Committee (Peer elected youth, youth advisors, and the Director of Youth and Children's Ministries) , or YAC, meet monthly to plan for activities and facilitation of the youth group.  Here is what is in story for September 2010:

Sept 86:00 PM  YAC Meeting (with Pizza) Last year's members (Julian, Claire B., Charlotte, Iris, Melissa, Jonas, Paul) and youth advisors are invited.

7:00 - 9:00 PM  UUFA Youth Group UU Olympics.  Begin getting in shape, you know what I'm talking about – limbo, balloon toss, trust walk, chalice building, and this year, a special surprise event – plus all the great prizes!  And, we'll talk about this year's YAC and how you can be elected to serve on the committee.

Sept 15  7:00 PM  Social Time

7:30 – 9:00 PM UUFA Youth Group  Youth will vote for YAC members, then we'll plan service projects for the year, including working with Interim Minister Charlotte Cowtan for the 10.10.10 Service.  Bring your favorite ipod music.  We'll play icebreaker games, talk about Sunday mornings, and just hang out and have fun.

Sept 22  7:00 PM  YOUTH AND PARENT MEETING.  Parents will learn about what is happening in youth group this year, including our once monthly OWL (Our Whole Lives Sexuality Curriculum) classes.  Parents will meet with OWL facilitators from 7:00 – 7:30, then have time to ask DYCM about programming, policies, etc.
