The Nursery
Anne Tepper, UUFA Nursery Coordinator
The goal for our youngest UUFA members is to have a safe, nurturing and fun environment that is predictable and pleasant from week to week. For this reason, the UUFA hires a staff nursery coordinator to be on site as many Sunday mornings as possible. Volunteers, adult and teen, assist the coordinator each week. Free play, stories, games and snack are part of each Sunday experience.
The nursery coordinator provides child care in the nursery most Sunday mornings, supervises nursery volunteers and helps families register their nursery-age children in the UUFA religious education nursery data base.
Our nursery coordinator is Anne Tepper. Anne is a full-time student at Iowa State University. She has been a member of the UUFA since she was a child, and one of her greatest memories is being one of our teen child-care providers for several years.
During the summer, child care is provided for children age 4 (or those not enrolled for kindergarten in fall 2010) and younger in the UUFA nursery during Sunday services. There is no set curriculum. The atmosphere of the nursery is that of a loving, caring community coming together to support families with young children.
Beginning on September 12, preschoolers age 3 and older can attend the preschool class (offered at our 9:30 early religious education session only) if parents determine they are ready for a slightly more structured environment.
Nursery care is available during each religious education session/Sunday Morning Service.
